The first official event of the 150th Anniversary Celebrations for Southampton is about to get underway.
The golf tournament at Chippewa Golf and Country Club is this afternoon.
Co-Chair of the tournament Even Hayter says the tournament sold out in early May.
Hayter says they will have 156 golfers teeing off at 1 in the afternoon in a shot gun start format.
He admits, that number is actually above their cut off, so they had to make special provisions to allow 3 more groups in.
Hayter says those taking part will be treated to a red white and blue look at the club, in honour of the celebrations.
The 4 person scramble tournament offers players everything from lunch, to a post play reception and steak dinner, a special 150th golf bag tag, team photo and more.
Hayter says they expect to make $10,000 off of the event, which will be donated to the 150th committee.
He says they will in turn put into back into the community, specifically towards renovations at the townhall theatre.
