Bruce Power has done it again.
Through its employees, partners and contractors on site along with the company itself, the United Way of Bruce Grey is receiving over $396,400.
The announcement was made at a special celebration on Monday at the Bruce Power Visitor Centre.
President and CEO of Bruce Power Duncan Hawthorne says the fundraising effort on site is truly a partnership that recognizes the everyone should be helping everyone else, when needed.
This year’s total represents a 54 thousand dollar increase over last year’s amount.
United Way Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says the money represents over half of the overall campaign target this year of 700 thousand dollars.
Dobbyn says she didn’t want to jinx the campaign by saying where they stood now but she has no doubt the target amount will be met.
Although the campaign goes on year-round, traditionally the fundraising ends by the end of November, so as not to conflict with Christmas fundraisers that go on in December by other groups such as the Salvation Army.
Dobbyn says Bruce Power has been a blessing when it comes to supporting the United Way which uses the funds to help over 15 member agencies that provide resources, assistance and care for its clients.
Meanwhile, Hawthorne hopes in the year ahead the Bruce Power donation will increase to over 500 thousand dollars.
