New home construction was solid in Owen Sound in September.
Stats released by the building department show 7 new homes were started, worth 1.1 million dollars.
That compares with only two new homes in the same month a year ago, worth 570 thousand.
In total, the Building department at city hall issued 42 permits in September, worth 2.1 million dollars.
So far in 2011, 13.4 million dollars worth of construction has started in Owen Sound, compared with over 51 million a year ago.
The 2010 total included the 32 million dollar rec centre permit.
Major projects in September include an addition at St. Marys High School, valued at 305 thousand dollars, and construction of a new hydro station building, valued at 200 thousand dollars.
There were also exterior alterations to the former CPR Station, valued at 115 thousand dollars.
