The federal government is providing 14 thousand 500 dollars to help restore the Cenotaph at Tobermory.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller has announced the funding on behalf of the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs.
The monument is dedicated to local soldiers who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars.
Miller says the Tobermory Cenotaph is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our brave local soldiers for the peace and freedom we all enjoy today.
The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula will receive the funding to assist with restoration work, thru the Cenotaph/Monument Restoration Program.
Larry Miller says thru this program, the Government of Canada works in partnership with community groups and local organizations dedicated to maintaining the countrys more than 6,000 cenotaphs and monuments.
