They were just looking for a little moral support.
The President of the Kincardine District Secondary School Home and School Association, Heather Padfield asked Bluewater Board trustees to consider the construction of a new high school for Kincardine.
Padfield says the current school is in pretty rough shape when it comes to infrastructure and the students and community of Kincardine deserve better.
Her request came on the heels of the recent decision to accept a recommendation from the Accomodation Review Committee to keep the three elementary schools open and KDSS open as well.
Padfield would like more of a commitment on the future of the school.
Kincardine trustee Jan Johnstone says she’s pleased the board has agreed unanimously to at least explore such a request down the road.
Saugeen Shores trustee Kevin Larson who presented the motion, underlined that the board was just agreeing to explore the issue with no commitment at all.
Larson says the school was built in the 1950’s and it’s getting a little tired.
Administration says as it stands right now, there is no re-builds in the offing until after 2014 at the earliest and even then with no guarantees.
