Kincardine residents will find out tonight what the future holds for three elementary schools.
The Bluewater public school board will vote tonight on the recommendations from the Kincardine Accomodation Review Committee.
The meeting begins at 7 PM at the board office in Chesley.
Kincardine/Huron Kinloss trustee Jan Johnstone presented a motion last month to delay a decision until tonight.
It stated reference to a possible new high school for Kincardine, was not part of the recommendation as it was supposed to be and she wanted the wording changed.
Johnstone says the information was in the 80-page report but not in the final recommendation.
In addition, Johnstone says, with the hundreds that attended the October 18th meeting to hear the board’s decision on Chesley High, the Kincardine issue was being lost in the shuffle.
She says by deferring the vote, delegations that may want to speak on the Kincardine situation will now get the chance.
Southgate Township/Grey Highlands trustee Jim Dawson voted against the motion — saying trustees had enough time to study the issue and it was time to make a decision and move on.
Trustees can either keep Elgin Market, Huron Heights and KTTPS open via the first recommendation or trustees can vote for the second recommendation which would see Elgin Market School close.
