It’s time again to roll up your sleeve and get a flu shot.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is holding a number of clinics beginning today.
The first flu vaccine clinic is at Rockwood Terrace in Durham from 3 PM to 7 PM — with another set for Friday at the Grey Bruce Health Unit in Owen Sound from 9 AM until 3 PM.
Program Manager Sarah Ellis says the concentration this year will be on getting health care workers immunized.
Last fall, many health care providers avoided getting the flu shot, but Ellis says it is important because not only does it protect the worker, but their clients.
Ellis also dispels the myth that you can get sick from a flu shot.
She says there is no live virus involved and you can’t get sick simply from the shot.
And Ellis says Healthy adults are still at danger of getting seriously ill, potentially missing up to 10 days of work.
On Tuesday, November 1st — the Hanover Heights Elementary school will host the third flu clinic in our area from 3 PM until 8 PM.
