School may have just begun — but high school students are being encouraged to start thinking about next year’s post secondary costs.
The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board will hand out 36 thousand dollars in scholarship and bursary dollars this Spring.
Superintendent of Business Cathy Colton says students have an excellent chance to qualify for money because there are only two Catholic high schools in Grey Bruce.
Colton encourages students to do their homework now and research the scholarships and bursary opportunities so they will be ready to apply in the Spring.
Colton notes the scholarship dollars are not just for those with high academics.
There are also bursaries for students with financial needs and help for those who have exemplified good character.
Currently the Bruce Grey Catholic Board’s Scholarship Fund sits at 1 million and 80 thousand dollars.
The fund started in 1979 with just 65 thousand dollars.
The school board reinvests a portion of the interest from this money each year.
