The boil water advisory in Arran-Elderslie has now been lifted.
Mayor Ron Oswald announced at last night’s Health Care meeting in Chesley that the advisory was lifted at 6 P.M. that evening.
Oswald says the 15 samples taken on Wednesday came back negative for e-coli.
He says the Grey Bruce Health Unit was later contacted and the municipality was told that the results were good enough to lift the advisory.
Oswald says normally more tests are taken in order for a boil water notice to be lifted.
He says 15 more samples were taken yesterday and he expects those will come back clean.
Oswald says the past 24 hours were not good for him or municipal staff.
He says he got calls from residents once they learned about the advisory and had to assure them that this was hopefully temporary.
In addition, Oswald says hydro was knocked out in Paisley yesterday afternoon so residents there could not boil their water but power was eventually restored.
The boil water notice was first issued on Wednesday when samples taken at Kinghurst Community School came back poor.
