Kincardine Councillors are making their way through budget talks and a couple of issues involving emergency services have entered into the discussions.
The municipality is to contribute over 26 thousand dollars to the Paisley Fire Department this year because it provides service to part of the former Bruce Township.
Councillor Mike Leggett says changes in Kincardine’s relationship with the fire board there could be looked at in the near future.
He says those changes could be as simple as looking at how funds are budgeted.
Saugeen Shores recently decided to withdraw from the Paisley and Area Fire Board, instead choosing to simply pay for the service to the affected residents.
An extra 100 thousand dollars is also in this year’s policing budget.
The municipality is facing extra costs due to wages and operating expenses under the OPP contract.
Leggett says it was due to happen sooner or later, but it’s hitting on a difficult year because of the troubled economy and many other capital projects on the list of things to do in the municipality.
