There’s a new committee to deal with parking in Owen Sound.
Councillor and chair of the committee, Bill Twaddle says the city’s parking committee will look at the whole issue of parking in the downtown.
City council has reaffirmed the direction that the city’s parking system will remain self-financing on a pay for use basis.
Twaddle says the whole cost of operating and maintaining the parking system will be financed through user fees, parking meters and fines.
The committe is hosting a public forum session on June 12 at 7 PM in the council chambers to hear opinions and suggestions on the current parking system.
Twaddle says this will provide residents a chance to voice what they like or don’t like about the parking situation in the downtown.
He says the committee will review all of the aspects with the parking system and will have a report for council by the fall.
The committee is made up of 3 councillors, 1 DIA representative, 1 Chamber of Commerce rep and 2 public members.
Council appointed Dale Bruce and Glen McNabb to the city’s parking review committee.
Twaddle says they would also like a rep from the Grey Bruce Health Unit to provide input to the committee has well.
