The latest school by school literacy test results have been released by the Education Quality and Accountability Office.
The latest tests, which were done in March for grade 10 students show a majority of students at the Bluewater District School Board did not meet or exceed the provincial average.
Only five of the boards 11 high schools managed to score above the 84 per cent provincial average as far as provincial literacy standards are concerned.
The board average was one point down from the provincial average at 83 per cent.
The highest scoring school in the Bluewater board was Chesley District High School which saw 91 per cent of its grade 10 students successfully complete the literacy test.
The lowest scoring school was Peninsula Shores District School in Wiarton where only 73 per cent of the students were able to pass the literacy exam.
The rest of the schools were in the high 70 to mid 80 per cent range.
At the Bruce Grey Catholic Board, Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton scored top marks with 88 per cent of students passing the literacy test.
St Mary’s in Owen Sound checked in with an 82 per cent success rate.
At the Simcoe District School Board, Collingwood Collegiate Institute saw 83 per cent of its Grade ten students pass the literacy test , at Elmvale District High School success rate was at 82 per cent and at the Catholic Board, 84 per cent of the Jean Vanier students were successful.
