The Liberal party may have won another four years in power in Ontario, but local Liberal Kevin Eccles will not represent Bruce-Grey-Owen-Sound.
Conservative Bill Walker will replace outgoing Conservative MPP Bill Murdoch in the next provincial legislature.
Eccles was clearly disappointed at the loss.
He says if there’s one thing that could have been done differently, it would have been better communication from his party about the Green Energy Act.
He says there hasn’t been enough focus on where the Liberal party’s vision in ten years time, as opposed to what’s happening right now.
Meanwhile, Paul Johnstone of the NDP is disappointed the voters have returned the Liberals to power, and specifically Dalton McGuinty as premier.
He says “there’s two jails that just closed” — and wouldn’t say anything further.
Shane Jolley, who ran as an independent this time, says it was a real challenge to get voters engaged in this election, but he’s not too surprised at the turnout.
He says he doesn’t know yet if he’ll run again — he says it always depends on if it’s the right thing to do at the time.
But Jolley adds he doesn’t regret running as an Independent and still believes it was the right choice.
He says he’ll continue to focus on his work with the Localmotive Project.
The Liberals won a minority government with 53 seats, the Conservatives second with 37 and 17 seats to the New Democrats.
