About 150 people gathered for a peaceful protest in Port Elgin.
It started around 8:30 this morningĀ at Waterloo Park and wrapped up at Saugeen Central Public School.
Of those in attendance, about 1 hundred included students between grades 4 and 8.
The students and parents walked to ensure they are heard loud and clear when it comes to the fact they want to keep rotary within their schools.
Several vehicles passed by, honking in support.
The Bluewater District School Board plans to switch to a non rotary way of teaching.
That means the students will stay in their home room and have one teacher teaching them most subjects in Grades 7 and 8.
Signs and spirits were high among the students from both Saugeen Central and North Port Elementary.
Kids held signs reading “Rotary Rocks” and “Hear us…Keep Rotary”, while many other signs simply read “We Deservce Specialized Teachers”
The peaceful protest wrapped up following a brief march in front of the school.
Parents plan to involve Education Minister Kathleen Wynne, should the board not start taking their concerns seriously.
A meeting was held April first with board officials, where it outlined plans to move from the rotary system to non-rotary.
