The town of South Bruce Peninsula is providing land for more affordable housing.
Council has transferred two surplus properties to Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce.
Mayor Gwen Gilbert says both lots are located in Wiarton – one is located on Dawson street, while the other is on Watson street.
Habitat is planning to construct a duplex on each of the properties next summer.
Gilbert says this will mean a home for four families.
Gilbert says there is a lot of support for this habitat build, adding many residents are glad to see council support this iniative.
She says this land transfer shows a new direction from council.
Council held a public meeting last night on the land transfer, but there were only four residents in attendance, who did not have any comments or concerns.
Gilbert says there is another public meeting tonight at the Wiarton arena starting at 7PM.
She says anyone interested in the project or families wishing to qualify to live in one of the homes should attend.
