The Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project is pretty well assured no matter what party is in charge after the provincial election.
In late August, we learned the provincial government was approving the build at Kincardine Hospital.
However Huron Bruce Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell said the support would only be in place if the Liberals won the election.
The President and CEO of South Bruce Grey Health Centre assured board members that his research indicates that once the project has received the minister and deputy minister’s letter, along with a definite date for tendering, the project will proceed.
However he cautions, any government can put a stop to the build but there has never been a project that has received ministry approval that has not gone forward.
Ironically on provincial election day October 6th, Davies will be in Toronto with health ministry officials, mapping out the process and milestones that need to occur between now and March 2015 to ensure the project is tracking according to schedule.
Earlier reports indicate phase one of the project could cost 43-million dollars with the total bill coming in at 104-million dollars.
Davies says once construction begins in 2015, he estimates it will take two years to complete the project.
