Over three million dollars is going to Kincardine for wastewater system improvements.
Huron-Kinloss is getting over 976 thousand dollars each from the feds and the province for road projects.
Each level of government is giving over. 6.5 million to South Bruce for wastewater projects.
Queen’s Park and Ottawa are each giving 770 thousand to Saugeen Shores for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant.
Bruce County will receive over 635 thousand dollars for road projects.
Each municipality is matching the amount given by the federal or provincial government, meaning local ratepayers are only covering one-third of the cost for the various projects.
MPP Carol Mitchell says municipalities receive their funding based on the applications they submitted along with a merit-based point system.
MP Ben Lobb says Huron Bruce’s sum of Building Canada funding is one of the largest allocations across the country.
He’s pleased with the efforts by his office and Mitchell’s to secure the funding.
Lobb says the projects will put people to work in the riding.
Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith says the town’s funding will be used for the project to install a new grit removal and septage receiving system at the Port Elgin sewage treatment plant.
Smith says Saugeen Shores will now be able to deal with septage easier, especially since so many properties in the municipality are still on those systems instead of sewers.
