The Port Elgin Branch Library is opening up again after renovation work that started last fall.
On Soundingboard Saugeen Shores manager of Recreation and Culture, Jayne Jagelewski says the building still has its Carnegie architecture roots but now the building is totally accessible with more useable space.
In addition, an elevator has been added to allow access to the second floor.
Jagelewski says those who have donated to the library renovation fund are invited for a sneak peek of the facility this afternoon from 4 to 6pm.
She says if you haven’t donated but want to have that sneak peek they will be accepting donations at the door.
Meanwhile the Executive Director of the Bruce County Library system Marzio Apolloni says the general public “soft” opening will be made at 10 tomorrow morning.
Apolloni says they’re looking forward to big crowds to re-acquaint themselves with the Port Elgin branch which will be open for business tomorrow.
He says a grand opening of the facility will take place later, probably in April.
So far, 1.1 million dollars has been raised by the community for the library renovation and they’re still looking for another $300,000.
