Meaford’s Integrity Commissioner is resigning.
Dianne Charlton says she has not been treated with dignity, understanding and respect by Meaford council.
Charlton adds she was also subjected to ridicule from the council.
Charlton says her resignation will come into effect on June 25th, when her contract with the municipality expires.
Charlton says it was not a tough decision, adding she will not change her mind.
Charlton says she’s requested a written apology from Mayor Francis Richardson and Councillor Cynthia Lemon as well as one from the entire council.
She says council made comments that she found offensive, adding there was a lack of communication between herself and council.
Charlton says council tried to withhold her integrity commissioner reports from the public and even ridiculed the reports and questioned her duties.
Charlton says when she looks at the budget increase, that was one of the reasons why she called a public inquiry.
She says there are problems in the municipality and feels the situation could have been dealt with in a much better way.
Charlton has come up with a list of recommendations for Meaford council which include making an attempt to follow the municipality’s code of conduct and appointing a new integrity commissioner.
