You may have noticed them if you visited any of the Owen Sound Museums this summer, and now they’re fully functional.
Touch screens have been installed at the Billy Bishop Home & Museum, and the Marine & Rail Museum.
Community Outreach Coordinator Paul Eichorn says the screens enhance the museum experience, so guests can see more than just the physical exhibit.
He says visitors can now go “behind the scenes” and get access to entire collections and archival photos.
Eichorn says it’s an interactive way to learn for both young and old.
Every exhibition area at both museums are equipped with a touch screen, and Eichorn says they’re very easy to use.
He says once you touch a screen, several options will come up and you can explore with your fingertips.
Eichorn says you always want to keep up with new technology, and he’s hopeful in the future, there will be potential for the screens to become portable.
He’s hoping it will be another mechanism to bring the information to other places in the community.
