More is better for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.
There was more money raised and more people participating in this year’s Rotary Huron Shores Run in Southampton Saturday.
Organizer and Rotarian Jacalene Scott tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that as of yesterday they were still counting all the money that was collected.
She says they have so far collected 27 thousand dollars for the Foundation but believes they will hit the 30 thousand-dollar mark once everything is done.
Scott says around 250 runners, walkers, and inline skaters took part in Saturday’s event.
She says in previous years there were less than 200 participants.
She say a majority of the participants are experienced runners who wanted to add to their running resume.
Scott says she heard from Foundation Chair Brian Wakelin that about 30 people have taken up running this past year and have participated in Saturday’s run.
She says many look forward to taking in the event because the course is not too hard and is just serious enough for them to count as a race.
The money raised from this year’s event will go towards purchasing a new operating table for the hospital.
