Ontario Education Minister Kathleen Wynne might be drawn into the rotary classes for Grades 7 and 8 controversy.
The Bluewater District School Board has plans to end rotary classes for the upper elementary grades by this fall.
However a group of concerned Saugeen Shores parents are fighting it.
The parents met late last week and it was decided that if they don’t any satisfaction from the board, then they’ll start a letter-writing and phone-calling campaign.
Parent Kevin Larson says the group is really miffed at the lack of consultation the board has had with the parents.
He says he feels the board is using their children as “guinea pigs.”
Larson says they’ve got the summer to figure out the issues and hopefully get the decision reversed.
Otherwise grades 7 & 8 children will begin the next school year in one class where the teacher will instruct in all subjects.
Many parents have said there’s been nothing wrong with the system up to this point and they can’t see the reason for changing it.
