The OPP were conducting checks of motorists around 12:30 last Friday morning in the Sauble Beach area.
A pick-up truck was stopped and when the officer spoke to the driver the odour of liquor was detected.
The man was asked to exit the truck but he instead drove off.
Officers found the vehicle about 12 minutes later abandoned after it was involved in a severe collision and rolled several times.
Officers followed footprints in the snow and arrested the suspect at a nearby cottage.
