February has been designated Heart and Stroke month right across the country.
The Grey Bruce Chapter marked the occasion with a special kick off at the Farmers Market today.
Program Co ordinator Chantal Leduc says 800 canvassers will fan out across the region in their door-to-door campaign this month handing out information, coupons and thank you’s.
Leduc says they’re fundraising goal is 135 thousand dollars.
She says the money goes towards various projects including the installation of more than 60 defibrillators in various public buildings, CPR kits in schools and the Play Bruce Grey program to combat childhood obesity.
Leduc says their official volunteer canvassers will be easily identified by their badges and kits bearing the Heart and Stroke logo and will also provide on the spot tax receipts for donations.
