Town Council recently presented the awards to the residents on behalf of the trust.
John Weichel of Southampton has received a Lifetime Achievement certificate for documenting and writing on the history of the community.
Recognition Certificates have been presented to Mike Sterling, Bob Trelford, and Audrey Underwood.
Underwood has been recognized for work with genealogy. She helped establish Bruce County chapter of the Genealogical society.
Underwood says she attended her first meeting with the provincial organization in 1969 and the local chapter started in 1970.
Saugeen District Secondary School Student Kirk MacGregor has been recognized as a Young Heritage Leader.
The grade 11 student is heavily involved with the school’s Heritage Garden Project.
MacGregor says he wasn’t aware he was getting the award and got involved with the Heritage Garden in grade nine just because he wanted to do something extra for the school and stay involved, and the garden project interested him.
Mayor Mike Smith says the heritage award recipients have put in endless hours of volunteer time doing something they like and benefits the community, and it’s good to see them recognized for it.
