A “soft opening” will take place on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14th.
That means, it will be open to the public, but a grandiose celebration won’t be held that day – that’s planned for warmer weather in March or April.
Changes include, an elevator to make the facility barrier free, and re-construction of basement flooring, along with foundation work.
Work began in April of last year, and took longer than expected, as officials originally hoped the library would re-open in October.
Much of the renovation cost was covered through donations, and grants.
The Port Elgin Cargegie Library turned one hundred in October.
