The President of the Ontario Home Builder’s Association says Owen Sound isn’t feeling the housing slump like other cities.
President Frank Giannone was in Owen Sound to discuss the economy, the federal budget and how it will effect the housing industry.
He spoke with the Grey Bruce Home Builder’s Association about new incentives to stimulate construction projects.
The 2009 Federal budget is funding 7.8 billion dollars to build quality housing and enhance energy efficiency.
He feels the incentives will be good for the province as a whole.
Giannone says it’s important for the construction industry to have a close relationship with the provincial and federal government.
He adds some cities and provinces are seeing a decline in housing and construction, while others stay prosperous.
Giannone says Owen Sound was steady in 2008, and won’t feel the effects that larger cities will.
The Ontario Home Builder’s Association represents over 4 thousand residential construction companies across the province.
