Ron Reid says it’s a bittersweet moment, but it’s time to move on.
Constable Reid has spent the last 7 years as the Community Services Officer.
He says after doing 25 years of police shift work, it was a welcome change.
Constable Reid says what he’ll remember best about the job is the community’s spirit and involvement.
He says Owen Sound is a great city, full of people willing to help out with presentations, fundraisers, food drives, and golf tournaments.
Constable Reid says his successor is ready for the job of Community Services Officer.
Constable Chris Hartley organized what Reid calls the biggest thing to ever happen to the Owen Sound Police Service – the 2007 Special Olympics.
Constable Hartley says his plans for the position are continuing Reid’s great work as well as introducing a few new school programs and other new ideas.
Constable Reid’s last duty was a D.A.R.E. graduation at Bayview on this afternoon, a fitting way to come full circle as that’s where he went to public school.
