Owen Sound Councillor Deb Haswell will be leaving the Police Services Board.
Haswell says council selects committees based on a lottery, and unfortunately she was not chosen to sit on the board this year.
Police Chief Tom Kaye says a year just isn’t enough for a councillor to properly understand and make a difference on the board.
Haswell says she will lobby to extend a council representative’s term for at least two years — so they can serve the community better.
She adds she will continue working with the police force, and will be involved in a ride along during Police Week in May.
Haswell will sit on ten other committees, including Community Planning, Advisory Committee, City Finance and the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
