In a news release, police say the game was being played at the Southampton Arena last night between Saugeen Shores and Arran Elderslie.
According to police a 16 year old boy struck a 15 year old from behind in the neck area.
The incident happened away from the play going on.
Police say the 15 year old lost consciousness for about 10-seconds because of the incident.
An ambulance took the teen to Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton and was later transferred to Owen Sound for further testing.
No condition was given.
Police are asking any witnesses to step forward.
They say although police don’t usually get involved in on-ice activities, sometimes certain incidents need to be investigated to determine if any criminal charges are warranted.
