ATV’s will soon have more places to roam in Bruce County.
Bruce County council has adopted a report from the Grey Bruce Trails Network that sets out guidelines for opening up more land to ATV’s.
Director of Planning Chris LaForest says the plan allows for future ATV access to trails.
Currently the only Bruce County property where ATV use is allowed is on sections of the county rail trail.
LaForest says the ATV groups would like to use other trails in county forests and on unopened road allowances.
He says there are some areas that are suitable for ATVing within the county, but adds the clubs need to follow the plan in order to gain access to the land.
He says they will need to work and consult with other groups such as the Saugeen Conservation Authority to help establish future ATV trails.
LaForest says the lower tier municipalities have also been asked to adopt the new ATV guidelines.
He says if they are going to permit ATV’s they should use their own public land and unopened road allowances.
