Golf with a purpose.
The 20th annual Saugeen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Charity Golf Tournament and Golf Ball Drop is ready to go in a couple of weeks.
Speaking with John Divinski on Soundingboard, Co-chair Healther Mulchey says the event will be staged at the Saugeen Golf Club on Saturday, September 6th.
Mulchey says there are still plenty of openings for best-ball tournament.
She says for $110 a golfer will get a lunch before the tournament and dinner afterwards, a round of golf, a cart, an opportunity to take part in a putter-rama contest and a $45 tax receipt for your contribution.
Mulchey says also included is one free ball in the popular golf ball drop.
Three thousand balls are being sold for $5 each or three for $10 and are on sale now.
Mulchey says on September 6th the balls will be hoisted into a basket by a crane and dropped on the driving range.
The three balls closest to a designated hole will win three exciting prizes, including a 2009 golf membership at Saugeen.
The balls can be purchased at the golf club or at various business throughout the municipality.
Mulchey says last year they raised $23,000 and they hope to match or better than mark this year.
The money is used to purchase much needed equipment for the hospital.
The tournament is a shot-gun start at 1pm.
Lunch will be served from 11am to 1pm.
