Farmers can get money from the Federal Government for environmental upgrades to their farms.
Environmental Farm Plan Program Representative Jayne Dietrich says the first of a few workshops to learn more and fill out applications is today in Formosa.
It’s a voluntary cost share program.
Dietrich says the government is re-offering the program which sees farmers getting up to 50 thousand dollars of a project covered, depending on criteria covered in it.
She says the funding is available until December 15th of this year.
Dietrich says there are about 36 projects eligible for funding.
Some include, improved manure storage and handling, manure treatment, farm yard run-off control measures, and well water management.
You need to register to attend today’s meeting, and still can by leaving a message for Dietrich at (519)367-5930.
It’s being held at Trillium Mutual Insurance at 10am.
There are other workshops being held throughout the summer, to be announced if you can’t make it to this one, but want to learn more or apply.
