Summer is coming and Saugeen Shores parks and recreation is getting ready for the surge of summer visitors and vacationers.
On Soundingboard recently Manager of Recreation and Culture for Saugeen Shores, Jayne Jagelewski says it’s all about numbers.
She says in the past week or so, 50 seasonal staff were hired and trained and their job is to make sure the area is attractive and clean to visitors.
Jagelewski says in the past couple of weeks 30 public washrooms have been re-opened and hundreds of public garbage cans have been emptied, cleaned and readied for further use.
She says ahead of them is the 200-acres of grass that needs to be cut.
She says it’s a time-consuming job and the summer staff will get to it.
She’s asking year round residents to be patient in that regard.
Jagelewski says it doesn’t end there.
There are 150 gardens that need to be prepared for the warmer weather and 400 kilometers of trail that is used by everyone.
She says there’s lots going on in the community as we ready ourselves for the summer season.
