You may see more people out walking and cycling this month.
The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit is hoping so, having declared the Bike-Walk to Work Challenge for most of June.
Public Health Nurse Marilyn Lemon says it has been an annual event for five years at Owen Sound workplaces.
Lemon says they have changed things slightly this year by turning over the actual organising to the businesses and workplaces themselves.
She says the Health Unit will continue to promote the event, but allow employers to make their own arrangements.
Lemon says the change will also allow employers outside of the city to join in as well with criteria that will suit their own circumstances.
She says walking or biking to work is one way to become more physically active and improve active transportation.
Lemon wants to remind people who may shy away from biking because of the city’s big hills, that the city buses have bike racks on the front.
