Ayton is celebrating the Apple Blossom this weekend.
The first ever Apple Blossom Festival runs today at Filsinger’s apple orchard.
Co-organiser Carolyn Crandall of the Ayton Lioness’ says the event started as a community lawn sale a while ago and has now blossomed into a full blown festival.
Crandall says they’re hoping at least a few hundred people come out for the many events they have planned.
She says it’s a family-fun day with an early bird breakfast, an arts and crafts show, a kids corner, and a Karaoke singing contest for kids and teens.
The Hot Paws Dog Obedience School has scheduled two demonstrations of dog agility, and the local chapter of ABATE is hosting a motorcycle show and shine.
Crandall says of course, there will still be the big community yard sale that started it all.
It all starts at 8:30 this morning with the breakfast.
Crandall says people should bring lawn chairs, and if the weather isn’t co-operative, all the events will be moved inside.
Filsinger’s apple orchard is located on Grey Road 9, accessible from Ayton or Highway 6.
There will be signs posted.
