Some 60 cottage owners have asked their lawyer to get more information from the Chippewas of Nawash about their statement of defence in the multi-million dollar lawsuit.
The Band claims environmental concerns and allegations about the condition of the cottages in their defence.
Cottagers spokesperson Karen McCullough says those claims are offensive.
She says everyone kept up their property and at no time did anyone express environmental concerns to them.
The Hope Bay Cottage owners had 10 days to reply to the statement of defence by the First Nation band and Indian Affairs, but McCullough says that clock has now stopped until clarification is given by lawyers for the band and the Crown.
In February, the Hope Bay cottage owners filed a 50 million dollar lawsuit.
Back in December of 2006, the cottagers received a letter from Indian affairs tellling them they no longer had rights to use or occupy the leased land.
They had to remove their belongings by January 31st, 2007 and have not had access to the cottages since.
