Swing those hips if you can, and help out the Canadian Orthopedic Foundation.
The Hip Hip Hooray Walk is taking place today at Harrison Park in Owen Sound.
Organiser Sandra Ferguson says it’s a short fundraising walk that starts at the park’s picnic shelter.
Ferguson says anyone can take part, including orthopedic patients, their families, and orthopedic professionals.
She says there will be two courses, one at .7 kilometres and another 1.5 kilometres long.
Ferguson says people don’t have to walk the course, they can wheelchair, or skate, or rollerblade, whatever people would like to do.
She says people can collect pledges or make a donation.
Ferguson says money raised goes to improve patient care in the community, and provide information and support as people go through treatment.
She says some funds go to national research, education, and support programs.
Ferguson says about 800 people came into Owen Sound hospital for knee, hip, or shoulder operations for a variety of reasons.
Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the walk begins at 10.
