The money is still being counted from this weekend’s Terry Fox Runs.
In Owen Sound — about 15 thousand dollars was raised as hundreds of people took part in the run at Harrison Park.
The Terry Fox Run in Meaford raised about 14 thousand dollars.
About 8 thousand dollars was raised during the Terry Fox Run in Wasaga Beach.
Deputy Mayor and run organizer, David Foster, notes the goal was set high at 15 thousand.
Last year, the run brought in just over nine thousand which was the second best ever results.
Foster adds just over a hundred people took part in the route around Beaches 1 and 2 on Sunday morning. That’s compared to 215 last year.
There were also runs in Kincardine, Port Elgin, Walkerton, Hanover, Durham, Meaford, Wiarton, Tobermory, Lion’s Head, Feversham, Badjeros and Collingwood.
85 cents of every dollar raised goes to cancer research.
Terry Fox Runs have raised over 550 million dollars for cancer research since 1980.
