Striking support workers at Georgian College and other Ontario colleges have reached a tentative agreement.
The deal was reached late Sunday night.
The employees — who have been on picket lines since the start of the month at the province’s 24 community colleges — will be returning to work this Tuesday.
The deal — which must still be ratified — was reached following two days of intensive bargaining by negotiators for management and OPSEU.
The eight thousand cleaners, food services staff, registration officers and others at the province’s 24 colleges walked off the job on September 1st.
The talks resumed after the union revised its position on a wage increase and benefits for retirees.
The union had previously been seeking a nine per cent pay increase over three years while management offered 4.75 per cent.
