Another major boost for the Owen Sound Rec Centre fundraising committee.
The Honourable Jim Prentice — the Senior Executive Vice-President and Vice Chairman of CIBC — announced Friday a 150 thousand dollar gift from the bank to the Regional Recreation Centre.
Prentice says CIBC is pleased to support the City of Owen Sound and Owen Sound Family YMCA with this important community project.
He says residents of Owen Sound and the surrounding area will benefit from the new rec centre.
Campaign co-chair Sonya Mount says this generous gift demonstrates CIBCs commitment to improving the health and wellness of our rural community.
In addition to corporate donation, local CIBC employees have been actively engaged in the project.
CIBC staff are among the over 500 donors that have supported the Rec Centre.
Jeremey Wentworth-Stanley — the Vice President CIBC Wood Gundy Owen Sound — was pleased that the bank head-office came up with such a substantial donation.
The local fund raising group has collected more than 70 per cent of its’ five million dollar target.
The new Rec Centre in Owen Sound is worth over 38 million dollars and should be open sometime next Spring.
