Friday is the last day on the job for 132 workers at Transcom in Owen Sound.
The call centre — located on the east side of Owen Sound — deals with technical support, customer transactions and processing with many clients operating out of the United States.
Spokesperson Caroline Spivak says the planned shutdown ordered in June, will go into affect at the end of the day.
When the shutdown was announced three months ago, Transcom blamed the high flying Canadian dollar for the closure.
A number of employees have complained to Bayshore Broadcasting News that Transcom never offered them jobs within the company at other locations — including the call centre in St. Catherine’s.
Transcom also is closing operations this summer in New Brunswick and in Cobourg.
