The Bluewater District Board of Education is putting on two all-candidates meetings in the weeks ahead but so far the one slated for Kincardine is turning into a bit of a dud.
The meeting slated for Kincardine at KDSS on Monday September 19th, will not have incumbent Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell in attendance and Progressive Conservative candidate Lisa Thompson has not yet replied to her invitation.
NDP’s Grant Robertson and the Green Party’s Patrick Main are the only two confirmed candidates at this time.
Board of education chair Marg Gaviller says the meetings will focus on education issues and are open to the public.
Gaviller says it would be a good opportunity for Mitchell to spell out her government’s education policy.
Apparently Mitchell has sent regrets because she’ll be attending the International Plowing Matches as Agriculture Minister in the Waterloo region.
Gaviller says they’re holding the meetings in Huron Bruce and Bruce Grey Owen Sound, because education issues tend to get lost in provincial elections and they’d like to hear what the candidates have to say.
Gaviller says the five candidates in Bruce Grey Owen Sound have confirmed their attendance at a meeting at Chesley District Secondary School on Wednesday, September 21st at 7:30 PM.
The Huron Bruce meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 19th at 7 PM at KDSS.
