Georgian Bluffs has a new CAO.
It’s Murray Hackett — who is currently the CAO in Montague Township in Lanark County in Eastern Ontario.
Hackett will start with Georgian Bluffs on October 11th, the day after Thanksgiving.
Hackett has worked in Montague for almost 10 years.
During most of that time he held the dual position of clerk-CAO.
Hackett has also worked for 20 years as the CAO and clerk in the town of Pelham in the Niagara Region, and before that — was the clerk-administrator in Smith Township in Peterborough County.
A native of Eastern Ontario, Hackett reportedly has family in this area.
Georgian Bluffs Mayor Alan Barfoot says Hackett will be expected to help train township staff and bring them to a level above where they are currently working.
This is the culmination of an extensive search that began last spring when former CAO Bill White resigned to take a similar job in the town of Minto.
