Despite huge crowds over the 10 day Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular, police are reporting few incidents.
Inspector Vince Wurfel says city police laid 13 liquor related offences to people who were in — or just outside the derby tent.
There were also six offences under the Trespass to Property Act, one assault complaint, one theft, and one mischief to a vehicle.
Owen Sound Police also arrested a male in the derby tent who was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Quinte West.
Inspector Wurfel says in one occurrence — a 24 year old Owen Sound man was charged with Causing a Disturbance, Assault Police and Breach of Probation, in addition to charges of Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.
Wurfel says given the size of the event, Owen Sound police say most people were well behaved.
In addition to event security the Owen Sound Police Service conducted numerous R.I.D.E. checks in the area of the Salmon Spectacular and other areas of the city.
Over two thousand vehicles were checked — but no impaired driving charges were laid.
Inspector Wurfel says numerous vehicles were left overnight at licensed events in the city, and with extended taxi wait times he believes the R.I.D.E checks met their objective of deterrence and prevention.
