Just about a year ago, two former Westhill secondary students in Owen Sound won a national video competition.
It was a Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) contest on-line, and they put together a two minute video on “Gros Morne” National Park in Newfoundland.
They won the contest and first prize was a week long adventure on the Northwest Territories.
George Woodhouse and David Lawless have just returned from taking the trip into Canada’s north.
Woodhouse is studying at Dalhousie University in Halifax, while David Lawless is at the University of Guelph.
Woodhouse — who was a co-op student at Bayshore Broadcasting News — stopped in for a visit this past week.
He calls the trip amazing and says the Nahani River adventure company provided great guides for their experience.
Woodhouse says the cliffs are enormous, and he saw plenty of wildlife including a grizzly bear.
He says the part of the Northwest Territories he saw, was one of the most beautiful places in the country.
