Saugeen Shores/Arran Elderslie board of education trustee Kevin Larson feels there should be more dialogue between municipal councillors and board of education trustees.
To that end, the Bluewater board trustee visited Saugeen Shores council recently to give councillors an update on what’s happening in the education field.
Larson touched on the budget problems the board went through earlier this year stating that the finance committee will begin work on a new budget in October in hopes of eliminating the last-minute crunch this year.
He also informed council of his intention to vote in favour of Chesley having a J-K to Grade 12 school facility when the final decision is made in October.
He said there was a possibility SSDS would see an increase in student enrolment if the Chesley school closed but it wasn’t the right decision for the community to have no school at all.
Larson says SDSS has gone through its accomodation review untouched but he suggested that there could still be a review of elementary schools in Saugeen Shores in the future.
Board trustees resume their regular meetings on Tuesday, September 7th after taking July and August off.
