The Conservative MP for Huron-Bruce is sharing his thoughts on the life and career of NDP leader Jack Layton who will be laid to rest in Toronto today.
Layton died of cancer on Monday at the age of 61.
Lobb says while MPs of other political stripes may not have shared his ideas or ideals Layton was looked up to by all who sat in the Commons with him.
Lobb calls Layton a well-liked and upbeat person who inspired others.
Lobb tells us Layton was a man who had the common touch.
He notes that many people identified with Layton who he says fought for ordinary Canadians.
Lobb believes Layton leaves a legacy that will find its place in Canadian history — politically and otherwise.
Lobb compares Layton with New Democrat founder and long-time MP Tommy Douglas because of the grass-roots issues he championed.
Lobb says Layton always argued his points in a fair way and stayed above the mud-slinging some other politicians engage in.
