Georgian College students will have some brand new digs for the upcoming school year.
A 2.9 million dollar student residence just steps away from the Owen Sound campus is now complete.
There are 15 townhouse style units in the development — with room for 4 students in each unit.
Brian Freeman of Campus Living Centres says each unit is 18 hundred square feet and comes equipped with a flat screen TV, five appliances and is fully furnished with beds and couches.
Freeman says the feedback from students has been extremely positive so far…and he adds the townhouse style is very appealing to them.
He notes they wanted to go above and beyond what is offered at most student residence’s.
Georgian College Associate Dean Donna Janssen says everyone at the college is thrilled with the finished product.
She notes enrolment is skyrocketing at Georgian and this meets their need for more student housing in the Scenic City.
She says it has never been greater.
The cost for a 12 month lease is 57 hundred dollars plus utilities per student.
Freeman adds they are now in the process of furnishing the rooms, just in time for students to move in September 1st.
