The Huron Chamber of Commerce estimates that 75 per cent of its member businesses in the community’s downtown core have been affected by Sunday’s tornado.
With 150 member businesses in the Courthouse Square and core area, that means approximately 112 Chamber members have encountered some taste of the devastation.
The Chamber is not sitting idly by.
A meeting will be held at 7 PM Wednesday night to formulate a contingency plan and answer members’ questions — just as one was held Monday night.
Business people, residents and some tourists are waiting to get behind the yellow police tape to assess the damage from Sunday’s devastating tornado.
But officials are still not allowing them because it’s not safe.
Chamber CEO Judy Crawford says they are pleased with the offers of help that have been received from the general community.
Particular praise was given to EMS responders who quickly moved to contain the downtown core in the interests of safety and security.
